To answer this question it is beneficial to begin with the most successful revolution in the history of mankind the American Revolution. The American Revolution in many ways was the beginning of modern day individualism and the idea of the right of mankind to think for themselves. In the eighteenth century information was reserved for the learned and the political class of society, and upward movement was difficult. The founding fathers of the United States were mindful of the impact information and knowledge would have on their cause combined with Jefferson, Adams and Madison’s ideas about human nature and the rights of man.
